At the end of my freshman year of college at Lewis University, the Vice President of the Student Governing Board told me that I was going to be the president of the organization one day. I could not even comprehend the thought of me taking on such a huge responsibility. However, I was a freshman who recently completed the application process for a position on the Executive Board. I was not originally awarded the position but my passion to serve my collegiate community did not die.

By the end of my sophomore year I had completed a year as a Member-at-Large with the Student Government and was prepared to interview for the board again. One thing led to another and I was convinced to run for president! I did not think I was prepared for it but I knew that I was called to do the job. By the time I graduated, I had successfully served two terms as the Student Governing Board president of Lewis University.

Many of the leadership roles I have taken on since then have been because of the need that I saw was lacking in leadership. Not to say that my predecessors were incompetent, but that the continuance of service required my efforts.

As of today I have held many positions within Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Mu Theta chapter as president, vice president, treasurer, recording secretary, sergeant at arms and chaplain. Basically, I did it all at some point in time. Additionally, I was chair of several programming areas including Economic Development and Political Awareness and Involvement. I also played an integral part in the creation of a new club on campus, The Book Club and worked tirelessly to restructure the Student Governing Board to preform more effectively.

So why do you need to know all of this about me? Because my experience alone is a book full of life lessons in time management, collaborative thinking, having a strong work ethic, developing your personal brand and even stress management. I have not done everything in life perfectly but I have learned a perfect lesson from each experience. Now I am here to share it with you.
